Telangana is a state in south-central India, formed in 2014 after its separation from Andhra Pradesh. Its capital, Hyderabad, is known for information technology, pharmaceuticals and historic architecture. Much of the state lies on the Deccan Plateau, with the Godavari and Krishna rivers supporting agriculture and water supplies.
Telugu is the main language, while Urdu also has a strong cultural presence. Bathukamma and Bonalu are prominent festivals, and local traditions reflect both Telugu and Deccani influences. Farming, industry and services sustain the economy, with Hyderabad serving as a major employment centre. Landmarks include Charminar, Golconda Fort and the Kakatiya-era monuments around Warangal.
Common civic concerns include reliable drinking water, irrigation, farm livelihoods, employment and access to quality education and healthcare. In expanding urban areas, residents also focus on traffic, public transport, housing, waste management and flood prevention. Rural communities often prioritise roads, public services and equitable regional development.
