Warangal (Urban), locally written as వరంగల్ (పట్టణ), was a district in Telangana, India, centred on the Warangal–Hanamkonda urban area. Following administrative changes in 2021, it was renamed Hanumakonda district, with revised boundaries. The area is known for its Kakatiya heritage and its role as a major educational and commercial centre in northern Telangana.
Telugu is the main language, alongside Urdu and other community languages. Bathukamma, Bonalu and other religious festivals shape local cultural life. Trade, education, healthcare, small businesses and services support the economy, with agriculture important in surrounding settlements. The Thousand Pillar Temple in Hanamkonda is a prominent landmark, while the wider urban area includes Bhadrakali Temple and Warangal Fort.
Common civic concerns include reliable drinking water, drainage, monsoon flooding, road maintenance and waste collection. Residents also care about public transport, employment, affordable healthcare and education. Managing urban expansion while protecting lakes, public spaces and historic monuments remains an important local priority.
