Kamareddy (కామారెడ్డి) is a district in Telangana, India, with its administrative headquarters in Kamareddy town. Created in 2016 from the former Nizamabad district, it lies north of Hyderabad. It is known for its agricultural landscape, market towns and road and rail links connecting the region with larger urban centres.
Telugu is widely spoken, alongside Urdu and other languages. Festivals such as Bathukamma, Bonalu and Eid reflect the district’s varied cultural traditions. Farming, agricultural trade, small businesses and services support local livelihoods, with paddy, maize and sugarcane among the crops grown. Nizamsagar reservoir on the Manjira River is a notable landmark and an important irrigation resource. Domakonda Fort is another prominent heritage site.
Common civic concerns include reliable irrigation, drinking-water supply, farm incomes and access to markets. Residents also care about road maintenance, drainage, sanitation, public healthcare and education. Employment opportunities for young people and balanced development across towns and villages are important local priorities.
