Adilabad (ఆదిలాబాద్) is a district in northern Telangana, India, bordering Maharashtra. Its administrative headquarters is Adilabad town. The district is known for its forested landscapes, cotton cultivation and strong Adivasi heritage. Its location near Maharashtra contributes to cultural and linguistic connections across the state border.
Telugu, Marathi and languages spoken by Adivasi communities are part of local life. Gond and Kolam communities contribute distinctive traditions, festivals and knowledge of the landscape. Agriculture, especially cotton and food crops, supports many households, alongside trade, services and forest-related livelihoods. The Nagoba temple at Keslapur and its annual jatara are important cultural landmarks, while Kuntala waterfall is a well-known natural attraction.
Common civic concerns include reliable irrigation and drinking water, fair crop prices, healthcare and access to schools in remote settlements. Residents also care about road connectivity, employment, tribal land and forest rights, and balancing tourism and development with protection of forests and water resources.
