Yadadri Bhuvanagiri (యాదాద్రి భువనగిరి) is a district in Telangana, India, east of Hyderabad, with its administrative headquarters at Bhuvanagiri, also known as Bhongir. It is best known for the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple at Yadagirigutta and the striking hilltop Bhongir Fort.
Telugu is widely spoken, and local life reflects Telangana’s festivals, food and rural traditions. Agriculture, trade, handloom weaving and pilgrimage-related services support livelihoods. Bhoodan Pochampally is noted for its ikat textiles and its association with the Bhoodan land-gift movement. Connections with Hyderabad also influence employment, commuting and development across parts of the district.
Common civic concerns include reliable drinking water, irrigation, road maintenance, public transport and access to healthcare and education. Residents also have a stake in fair returns for farmers and weavers, sanitation around pilgrimage centres, and protecting historic sites. Managing growth while preserving agricultural land, water bodies and local livelihoods is an important district-wide challenge.
