Siddharth Nagar (सिद्धार्थनगर) is a district in northeastern Uttar Pradesh, India, along the border with Nepal. Its headquarters is at Naugarh. The district is known for its Buddhist heritage, especially the archaeological site at Piprahwa, associated with ancient Kapilavastu and the early life of Gautama Buddha.
Hindi and regional speech varieties, including Awadhi and Bhojpuri, shape everyday life. Hindu and Muslim communities contribute to local festivals, markets and traditions. Agriculture supports much of the economy, with rice and wheat among important crops. The district is particularly associated with aromatic Kalanamak rice. Buddhist sites around Piprahwa and Ganwaria attract pilgrims and visitors, while small businesses and cross-border connections support local commerce.
Common civic concerns include flood protection, drainage, rural roads, reliable electricity and access to healthcare and education. Farmers care about irrigation, crop prices and market access. Employment opportunities, sanitation and the conservation of Buddhist heritage are also important subjects for local discussion.
