Rampur (रामपुर) is a district in the Rohilkhand region of Uttar Pradesh, India, with its headquarters in Rampur city. Situated between Moradabad and Bareilly, it is known for its former princely state, Indo-Islamic heritage and the Rampur Raza Library, which preserves important manuscripts, books and artworks.
The district includes urban neighbourhoods and agricultural communities, with Hindi and Urdu prominent in local life. Farming, trade, food processing and small industries support livelihoods. Rampur’s cultural identity includes the Rampur-Sahaswan tradition of Hindustani classical music, distinctive cuisine and traditional crafts. The Raza Library and surviving palace and fort buildings reflect the patronage of its former nawabs.
Common civic concerns include road maintenance, drainage, sanitation, reliable electricity and clean drinking water. Residents also care about access to healthcare, school quality, jobs and agricultural support. Preserving historic buildings while improving everyday infrastructure is another important local issue, alongside managing traffic and keeping public spaces clean.
