RaeBareli (रायबरेली) is a district in central Uttar Pradesh, India, southeast of Lucknow. Its headquarters is RaeBareli city. Part of the historic Awadh region, the district is known for its agricultural landscape, political prominence and long association with the Nehru–Gandhi family.
Hindi and Awadhi are widely spoken, and village fairs, religious festivals and local markets shape community life. Agriculture supports many households, alongside trade, public services and manufacturing. The Modern Coach Factory at Lalganj is a notable industrial establishment. Landmarks include the historic town of Dalmau on the Ganga and Samaspur Bird Sanctuary, a wetland habitat for resident and migratory birds.
Common civic concerns include reliable irrigation, farm incomes, rural roads, drainage and access to drinking water. Residents also care about government schools, healthcare, sanitation and employment opportunities for young people. Flood preparedness in riverine areas, wetland protection and the quality of public services are important district-level issues.
