Karbi Anglong (কাৰ্বি আংলং) is a hill district in Assam, northeastern India, with its administrative headquarters at Diphu. It is known for its forested landscapes, agricultural communities and the cultural heritage of the Karbi people. It is distinct from the neighbouring district of West Karbi Anglong.
The district is home to Karbi communities and other ethnic and linguistic groups. Traditional music, dance, weaving and festivals are important parts of local life, with the Karbi Youth Festival a prominent cultural gathering. Farming, trade, public services and small businesses support livelihoods. Diphu is a centre for administration, education and commerce, while nearby hills and recreation areas offer opportunities for nature-based tourism.
Common civic concerns include reliable roads, drinking water, healthcare, schools and electricity, particularly in remote settlements. Residents also care about employment, agricultural support, forest protection and land rights. Autonomous governance through the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and the preservation of indigenous languages and traditions are important public issues.
