Kanshiram Nagar, now officially known as Kasganj district, lies in western Uttar Pradesh, India. Its administrative headquarters is Kasganj (कासगंज). Created from Etah district in 2008, it forms part of the Aligarh division. The district is known for its agricultural countryside, Ganga-side settlements and religious heritage, particularly around Soron.
Hindi is widely spoken, with local speech reflecting the district’s proximity to the Braj region. Farming, agricultural trade, small businesses and services support livelihoods, while Kasganj town serves as a market and railway centre. Soron, also known as Soron Shukar Kshetra, is an important Hindu pilgrimage destination associated with the Varaha tradition. Religious festivals, fairs and local markets shape community life.
Common civic concerns include road maintenance, drainage, reliable electricity, drinking water and waste collection. Residents also care about schools, healthcare access, farm irrigation, crop prices and employment opportunities. In settlements near the Ganga, seasonal flooding and riverbank erosion can be important concerns.
