Ferozepur (ਫਿਰੋਜ਼ਪੁਰ) is a district in western Punjab, India, along the border with Pakistan. Its administrative centre is Ferozepur city. The district is known for its agricultural landscape, military cantonment and border heritage. The Sutlej River helps shape its geography, while Hussainiwala is associated with the memory of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev.
Punjabi is widely spoken, and local life reflects Punjab’s farming traditions, religious diversity and strong community networks. Agriculture, especially wheat and rice cultivation, supports much of the economy, alongside trade, transport and services. Gurdwaras, temples, bazaars and the National Martyrs Memorial at Hussainiwala are important cultural and historical places.
Common civic concerns include irrigation, groundwater use, river flooding, road maintenance and access to healthcare and education. Residents also care about farm incomes, employment opportunities for young people, sanitation and reliable public services. Border-area development and the practical challenges of farming near the international boundary are locally significant issues.
