Farrukhabad (फ़र्रुख़ाबाद) is a district in Uttar Pradesh, India, in the Ganga plain. Its main urban centres are Farrukhabad and neighbouring Fatehgarh, the district headquarters. The district is known for textile printing, agriculture and historic settlements connected with trade, religious traditions and regional administration.
Hindi and Urdu contribute to local cultural life, alongside regional speech traditions. Farming, markets, small businesses and textile-related work support livelihoods. Potatoes are an important crop, making storage and access to buyers significant economic concerns. Fatehgarh has a longstanding military presence, while Sankisa is a notable Buddhist pilgrimage site. Temples, mosques and gatherings along the Ganga also form part of the district’s cultural landscape.
Common civic concerns include road maintenance, drainage, sanitation, reliable electricity and access to healthcare and education. Residents in rural and riverine areas also face questions around irrigation, flooding and water quality. Employment opportunities, farm prices, cold-storage facilities and better transport links matter to households across the district.
