Bulandshahr (बुलंदशहर) is a district in western Uttar Pradesh, India, with its headquarters in Bulandshahr city. Part of the National Capital Region, it lies east of Delhi, with the Ganga along its eastern side. The district is known for agriculture and Khurja’s pottery and ceramics industry.
Residents live in a mix of towns and farming villages, with Hindi widely spoken and Urdu also part of local cultural life. Farming, dairy production, ceramics, trade and small industries support livelihoods. Wheat and sugarcane are important crops. Notable places include Khurja’s pottery centres, the Ganga-side pilgrimage town of Anupshahr, and Narora, home to a nuclear power station.
Common civic concerns include reliable roads, public transport, electricity and water supplies, sanitation, and access to schools and healthcare. Farmers care about irrigation, crop prices and timely payments. Industrial pollution, groundwater quality, river protection and managing urban growth are also important issues across the district.
