Yamunanagar (यमुनानगर) is a district in northeastern Haryana, India, bordering Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. Named for the Yamuna River along its eastern side, it stretches from the Shivalik foothills to fertile plains. Yamunanagar city and neighbouring Jagadhri form its main urban centre, known for industry and trade.
The district combines farming communities with industrial neighbourhoods, with Hindi, Haryanvi and Punjabi among the languages spoken. Plywood and wood-based manufacturing, paper, metalworking and agriculture support the economy. Jagadhri is associated with metal utensils, while sugarcane and other crops sustain rural livelihoods. Notable places include Kalesar National Park, the Buddhist remains at Chaneti and the religious centre of Kapal Mochan.
Common civic concerns include industrial pollution, clean drinking water, sanitation and waste management. Residents also care about road maintenance, traffic, reliable public services and employment. Flood protection along the Yamuna, groundwater management and conservation of forests and wildlife are important district-wide issues.
