Sirohi (सिरोही) is a district in southwestern Rajasthan, bordering Gujarat. Its landscape includes the Aravalli hills and drier plains. It is best known for Mount Abu, Rajasthan’s only hill station, and the Dilwara Jain temples, celebrated for their intricate marble carving. Sirohi town is the district headquarters.
The district’s communities include rural farming families, tribal populations and residents of growing towns. Hindi and regional Rajasthani varieties are widely spoken, while fairs, religious festivals and local crafts shape cultural life. Agriculture, livestock rearing, tourism, trade and cement production contribute to the economy. Other notable places include Abu Road, an important rail gateway, and the Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary.
Common civic concerns include reliable drinking water, irrigation, rural roads, healthcare and access to education. In and around Mount Abu, residents also face questions about tourism management, waste disposal, construction and protection of forests and water sources. Employment opportunities and dependable public services matter across the district.
