Dogri-speaking communities form an important part of local society, alongside Gojri-speaking and other communities. Religious traditions, local festivals and village life shape its culture. Pilgrimage tourism, agriculture, livestock rearing, trade and public services support livelihoods. Major landmarks include the Vaishno Devi shrine, Shiv Khori cave shrine, Bhimgarh Fort and the Chenab Rail Bridge.
Common civic concerns include reliable roads, drinking water, electricity, healthcare and access to schools across scattered hill settlements. Residents also care about employment, balanced tourism development, sanitation and waste management around pilgrimage centres. Landslide preparedness, environmental protection and dependable transport links are important for both everyday life and visitor safety.
