North Delhi (उत्तरी दिल्ली) is an administrative district in the National Capital Territory of Delhi, India. It covers parts of the capital’s northern urban and outer areas, including neighbourhoods around Alipur, Narela and Model Town. The district combines established residential colonies, industrial areas, urban villages and agricultural land along Delhi’s outskirts.
Its population includes long-settled families and migrants from across India, with Hindi and Punjabi among the languages commonly heard. Markets, small businesses, manufacturing, transport and services support local livelihoods. Narela’s industrial estates and the residential areas around Model Town reflect its varied economy. The Yamuna floodplain and areas near Delhi’s northern border are important features of its landscape.
Residents commonly focus on reliable water supply, drainage, sanitation, road maintenance and public transport connections. Air pollution, waste disposal, traffic congestion and access to schools and healthcare are recurring concerns. In expanding neighbourhoods, housing, infrastructure provision and the protection of open spaces also shape civic priorities.
