Noney (ননি) is a district in the western hill region of Manipur, India, with its headquarters at Noney town. Created in 2016 from part of Tamenglong district, it is known for forested hills, river valleys and its role in the Jiribam–Imphal railway project, including the prominent railway bridge near Noney.
The district is home to several Naga communities, including Rongmei people, whose languages, customary institutions, festivals and Christian traditions shape local life. Agriculture, horticulture, small businesses and public services support livelihoods. Noney town serves as an administrative and trading centre, while village landscapes and the railway bridge are notable features of the district.
Common civic concerns include reliable roads, safe transport, electricity, drinking water, healthcare and access to education in scattered hill settlements. Landslide risks, forest protection and the effects of major construction projects also matter. Residents have an interest in local employment, land rights and development that respects community institutions and the environment.
