Neemuch (नीमच) is a district in northwestern Madhya Pradesh, India, bordering Rajasthan. Its headquarters is Neemuch city, in the Malwa region. The district is known for agriculture, agricultural trading and licensed opium cultivation. Neemuch city also has a cantonment history and is associated with the origins of the Central Reserve Police Force.
Hindi and Malvi are commonly spoken, and local food, festivals and trading traditions reflect ties with both Malwa and neighbouring Rajasthan. Farming, produce markets, commerce and small industries support livelihoods. Soybean, wheat, pulses and oilseeds are important crops. Notable places include the Bhadwa Mata temple and Gandhi Sagar’s reservoir landscape along the district’s eastern side.
Common civic concerns include reliable drinking water, irrigation, road maintenance, sanitation and access to healthcare and education. Farmers care about crop prices, market facilities and timely agricultural support. Residents also have a stake in employment opportunities, transparent local administration and balanced development across towns and villages.
