Kangpokpi (কাংপোকপি) is a hill district in Manipur, northeastern India, with its administrative headquarters in Kangpokpi town. Located north of Imphal, it is known for its wooded hills, village landscapes and position along the main road connecting Imphal with Dimapur. The district was created in 2016 from parts of Senapati district.
The population includes Kuki-Zo communities, Nepali-speaking residents and other groups, with distinct languages, faiths and cultural traditions. Agriculture, small businesses, transport and public services support local livelihoods. Churches, village institutions and community celebrations play important social roles. Kangpokpi town serves as an administrative and trading centre for surrounding settlements.
Common civic concerns include reliable roads, drinking water, electricity, healthcare and access to education in remote villages. Land rights, forest management and opportunities for young people are also important. Ethnic violence and displacement in Manipur have made public safety, relief, rehabilitation, secure travel and rebuilding trust especially pressing concerns.
