Kachchh (કચ્છ), also known as Kutch, is a district in western Gujarat, India, bordering Pakistan and the Arabian Sea. Bhuj is its administrative headquarters. It is known for the seasonal salt flats of the Great Rann of Kachchh, desert landscapes, coastal settlements and distinctive craft traditions.
Residents speak Kutchi, Gujarati and other languages, reflecting the district’s diverse communities. Embroidery, weaving, block printing and handicrafts are important cultural and economic activities, alongside livestock rearing, agriculture, salt production, industry and port trade around Kandla and Mundra. Notable places include Dholavira, the ancient Harappan site, Bhuj’s historic palaces and Mandvi’s waterfront. Rann Utsav draws visitors to the region.
