Jhajjar (झज्जर) is a district in Haryana, India, west of Delhi and within the National Capital Region. Its headquarters is Jhajjar town. The district is known for its agricultural landscape, growing industrial areas and close economic links with Delhi. Bahadurgarh is a major urban and industrial centre.
Haryanvi and Hindi are widely spoken, and village traditions, local fairs and sporting culture shape community life. Farming, manufacturing, trade and services support the economy, with footwear production notably associated with Bahadurgarh. Important local sites include the Bhindawas wetland, a Ramsar site valued for its birdlife, and the Gurukul museum in Jhajjar town.
Common civic concerns include reliable drinking water, drainage, road maintenance, public transport and access to healthcare and education. Residents also have stakes in employment opportunities, agricultural support and managing urban expansion. Industrial pollution, waste disposal and the protection of wetlands and water bodies are important environmental issues.
