Dhule (धुळे) is a district in northwestern Maharashtra, in the Khandesh region of India. Its administrative headquarters is Dhule city. The district includes parts of the Tapi river basin and stretches toward the Satpura hills. It is known for agriculture, regional trade and road connections linking Maharashtra with Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
Marathi and Ahirani are widely spoken, alongside languages used by tribal communities, including Bhil and Pawara groups. Farming, agricultural markets, transport and small industries support livelihoods, with cotton, maize and other crops grown across the district. Local culture reflects Khandeshi traditions, village fairs and religious festivals. Notable heritage sites include Laling Fort and the historic temples at Balsane.
Common civic concerns include reliable drinking water, irrigation, farm incomes and access to markets. Residents also care about road maintenance, public transport, sanitation and healthcare. In rural and tribal areas, access to education, nutrition services and employment opportunities remains important, alongside careful management of forests and water resources.
