Charkhi Dadri (चरखी दादरी) is a district in southern Haryana, India, with its administrative headquarters in Charkhi Dadri town. Created from Bhiwani district in 2016, it includes rural settlements and a growing urban centre. The district is known for its agricultural landscape, Haryanvi traditions and strong association with wrestling.
Haryanvi and Hindi are widely spoken, and village communities remain central to social and cultural life. Farming, livestock rearing, local commerce and small businesses support livelihoods. Wheat, mustard and millet are among the crops grown locally. Balali village is associated with the Phogat family of wrestlers, while temples, village ponds and traditional gathering spaces form part of the district’s everyday heritage.
Common civic concerns include reliable drinking water, irrigation, drainage and road maintenance. Residents also care about healthcare, school facilities, employment opportunities and access to government services. Managing groundwater pressure, improving sanitation and strengthening transport links are important issues across town and village communities.
