Changlang (चांगलांग) is a district in southeastern Arunachal Pradesh, India, bordering Assam and Myanmar. Its headquarters is Changlang town. Known for forested hills, river valleys and cultural diversity, the district includes Namdapha National Park, a major protected area celebrated for its rich wildlife and habitats ranging from tropical forests to high mountains.
Communities include the Tangsa, Singpho and Lisu, alongside other groups with distinct languages and traditions. Farming, horticulture, trade and tourism support local livelihoods, while coal extraction has also shaped parts of the economy. Miao is an important gateway to Namdapha. The historic Stilwell Road and World War II cemetery at Jairampur are notable heritage sites.
Common civic concerns include reliable roads, electricity, mobile connectivity, healthcare and education, especially in remote settlements. Residents also have a stake in employment opportunities, land rights and transparent public services. Balancing conservation with livelihoods, managing mining impacts and improving resilience to floods and landslides are important local priorities.
