Botad (બોટાદ) is a district in Gujarat, India, in the Saurashtra region. Created in 2013 from parts of Ahmedabad and Bhavnagar districts, it has its administrative headquarters in Botad town. The district is known for farming, market towns and important religious destinations.
Gujarati is the main language, and local life reflects Saurashtra’s traditions, festivals and food. Agriculture, livestock rearing, cotton trading and related businesses support the economy, alongside shops and services. Notable landmarks include the Swaminarayan temple at Gadhada and the Kashtabhanjan Hanuman temple at Sarangpur, both major pilgrimage destinations. These religious centres also sustain local hospitality and commerce.
Common civic concerns include dependable drinking water, irrigation, roads, drainage and waste collection. Farmers care about rainfall, agricultural markets and access to support services. Residents also look for better healthcare, education, public transport and employment opportunities. Managing traffic, sanitation and public facilities around busy pilgrimage sites is another practical priority.
