Bhind (भिंड) is a district in northern Madhya Pradesh, India, bordering Uttar Pradesh. Its administrative headquarters is Bhind town. Part of the Chambal region, the district is known for its ravine landscapes, agricultural plains and historic settlements. The Chambal and Sind rivers help shape its geography.
Hindi and regional speech varieties, including Bundeli, are heard locally. Farming, agricultural trade and small businesses support much of the economy, with wheat and mustard among important crops. Local culture includes religious festivals, fairs and traditions shared across the Chambal region. Notable landmarks include Ater Fort, the temples at Vankhandeshwar in Bhind town and the historic temple complex at Bateshwar’s neighbouring regional heritage sites.
Common civic concerns include reliable drinking water, irrigation, road maintenance, sanitation and access to schools and healthcare. Residents also have a stake in employment opportunities, public safety, river conservation and managing erosion in ravine areas. Improving services across villages and towns remains an important development priority.
